JOB PURPOSE: The Ashford team is growing, and we are looking for our next Ashfordian! The Human Resources Coordinator (HR Coordinator) is an entry-level position responsible for supporting all activities of the Human Resources department, including scheduling, payroll administration, benefits support, policy compliance, safety, and administration of HR-related responsibilities for the business. This position reports to the VP, HR & People and is an on-site position at our corporate offices in Houston, Texas. SUBSTANTIAL GOALS FOR THIS AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: Describe the major outcomes and opportunities this position directly drives.Current year: Acclimate to the position, learn and build effective business relationships wowing our internal and external customers Partners closely with Hiring Managers on employee job offers and start dates Review hours and exceptions for our hourly employees and enter adjustments for bi-weekly payroll processing Onboards employees successfully and is the main point of contact within the HRIS and Payroll SystemsLonger term: Spearhead digital transformation by creating and maintaining electronic employee files Looks for opportunities to enhance and streamline our current onboarding experience Possess the desire to improve continuously by sharpening your skills to grow in other areas within the HR team and the business Support the HR team in all HR-related functions and recommends areas for improvement and efficienciesACTIONS: Describe the actions needed to achieve this position and this department's goals Develop relationships with Ashford Team Members and Leadership Help build an internal understanding of HR policies and procedures Ensure HR materials are completed at each of our properties and partner with leadership and employees on the completion of these materials Be the face of HR by being the first point of contact for our people and partner with other team members as needed to resolve issues Partner with Hiring Managers on job offers, offer letters, start dates, and new hire documentation, including I-9s Foster an open environment where employees feel welcome and are encouraged to partner with HR on questions and concerns Lead the onboarding experience with all new hires and partner with Hiring Managers and the HR team to ensure all employees are integrated successfully Be a support to the HR team by assisting with benefits administration and training Assist with various HR reporting by accessing reports, running reports, and compiling information as needed for the HR team COMPETENCIES: Describe the skills and behaviors needed to be successful in this position. Excellent planning and organization skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Ability to handle multiple assignments with overlapping (and sometimes conflicting) schedules and deadlines Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people Functions comfortably and effectively in an entrepreneurial and high-growth environment BA degree preferred, an HS diploma or GED required 1-3 years of previous HR or office experience desired Experience supporting multi-site properties or similar organizational setup Resourceful, innovative, and creative problem solver Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality Speak both English and Spanish fluently Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office required When needed, available to travel (5-10%) OBSTACLES: Describe obstacles that need to be overcome to accomplish the goals described above.
