ERM is seeking a motivated Staff/Engineer focusing on Low Carbon Economy Transition to join our consulting team in Texas, Austin, or Dallas. The successful candidate will work on a variety of interesting technical projects for clients in the oil & gas, power, and chemical sectors throughout Texas, and neighboring states. ERM's technical communities pursue and win highly innovative engagements for the most interesting clients, providing the full breadth of air quality and climate change services. In North America alone, ERM has more than 300 dedicated climate change professionals assisting clients with projects as diverse as developing responses to emerging Low Carbon Fuel Standards, to leading complex capital projects through the many hurdles associated with carbon capture, utilization, and storage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and assess regulatory compliance requirements and perform regulatory applicability evaluations.
  • Develop complete and accurate permits for major capital projects.
  • Compile data for reporting on air, water, waste topics.
  • Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of various permitting strategies with support from senior consultants.
  • Implement project tasks as described in ERM's proposals.
  • Prepare recommendations and reporting of results for internal review.
  • Perform tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients, ERM employees, and subcontractors.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in environmental or geological sciences or environmental engineering; MS preferred but not mandatory.
  • Recent graduate to 3 years of direct consulting or industry experience involving environmental permitting and compliance. Experience with LCET elements of carbon accounting, carbon capture, transport, and sequestration, infrastructure capability with CO2 transport a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of permitting and reporting processes.
  • Strong writing and computational skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to direct oneself with support from the team.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
