OverviewRES is the nation's largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 294 stream miles and 58,024 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 9,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 14,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 250 tons of polluting nutrients. RES navigates and streamlines the environmental permitting process with solutions that balance economic development and ecological sustainability through the establishment of mitigation/conservation banks, permittee responsible turnkey mitigation, and corporate social responsibility projects.RES is accepting applications for a Field Ecologist Intern in our Lafayette, Louisiana office. The Ecology Intern will work with the ecology and field personnel to perform all aspects of field work and assist with technical reporting and data entry.ResponsibilitiesThe Ecology Intern will assist our Field Ecology team with:* Wetland delineations* Field monitoring of mitigation sites* Data entry* Technical report preparation* Other restoration site maintenance and management tasksField work can be expected for 75-90% of the work.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:* Recent graduate or individual currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or related field* Excellent plant identification skills in various forested wetland types in Louisiana* Ability to travel (overnight) to sites as needed* Willing and able to perform and comply with the following items:* Working outside in harsh and under adverse weather conditions* Walking long distances, climbing, bending, lifting and performing a wide range of physical activities* Excellent technical writing and communication skills with attention to detail* Ability to read and interpret environmental mapping* Ability to effectively focus on a variety of tasks to produce quality results within deadlines* Acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:* Plant identification* Experience with GPS equipmentVEVRAA Federal ContractorRES is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
