We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.SUMMARYWestlake is looking to hire an intern to help with administration and ongoing project work related to the various health, welfare, retirement, and pension plans for employees in the non-U.S. subsidiary companies of Westlake Chemical Corporation ("the Company"), as well as support of immigration, relocation, and data analytics. The Intern serves as a contact person for all plan design and administration issues in those countries. Uses independent judgment and decision making to evaluate and make recommendations about benefit plan administration.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:International Retirement Programs Maintains knowledge of the Company's retirement/pension plans and the processes necessary to administer the plans Daily administration of the Defined Benefit Plans including: benefit calculations/elections, distributions, data management/reporting Canadian RRSP and TFSA plan daily administration including, but not limited to: contribution/loan/deferral file exchanges, loan/withdrawal processing, data management Supports union and non-union annual retirement contribution calculations Prepares analytical reports of retirement/pension costs Supports compliance processes related to retirement/pension plans including, but not limited to: coordinates annual audits of the retirement/pension plans, prepares data and reporting for annual valuations, insurance filing/premium payment processing, review/distribution of required notices and plan documentation Prepares agendas and coordinates materials for pension committee meetings Prepares funding requirements and, working with external investment advisors, determines liquidation requirements to meet pension payment obligations Reviews invoices for payment of all administrative expenses related to the retirement/pension plans and logs invoices for tracking purposes Works with vendors, actuaries and consultants regarding the daily administration processes Facilitates problem resolution between the service providers and/ or ternational Health and Welfare Programs Maintains knowledge of the Company's international health and welfare benefit plans and the processes necessary to administer the plans In conjunction with vendors, carriers, and consultants, daily administration of the various union and non-union international health and welfare benefit programs which may include, but are not limited to: Medical, Dental and Vision plans; Retiree Medical plans; Employee Assistance programs Serves as a contact for claims questions/resolution Prepares and/or analyzes cost and utilization reports Reviews and audits enrollment and eligibility data Works directly with providers to develop and/or update communication materials. Facilitates problem resolution between the service providers and/ or claimants.Other Responsibilities Coordinate the drafting and preparation of certain compliance materials as required. Day to day management of the Company's relocation programs Coordinates immigration work for sponsored employees Complies with all Company policies and procedures Research into best practices regarding HR data analytics Preparation of pay and benefit equity reports and executive dashboards Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities, as well as active participation on project teams Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as assignedEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or at least three years of professional experience General knowledge of employee benefit principles, practices and procedures is helpful Ability to research/resolve problems or issues in a timely manner Ability to work independently to resolve issues or problems on a day-to-day basis Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a corporate environment CEBS or similar certification preferred; similar preference for actuarial experience Proficiency with Windows based software (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
